      6. Regional coordinator for a number of EU funded projects (AVICENE, CAMELEO, LANDWATERMED, MEDCOASTLAND, MEDAQUA1, MEDAQWA2, MELIA EU-INCO Project and FP4BATIW- FP7.
      7. Member of the International working group linking MIRA and Horizon 2020 projects activities (2009-2012).
      8. Coordinator of the ERAWIDE EU-FP7 project "Characterization and Sustainable Use of Egyptian Degraded Soils – SUDSOE", January 2012-December 31, 2014.

        The National Authority for Remote Sensing and Space Sciences (NARSS) is considered the pioneer Egyptian institution that applied satellite remote sensing at a very early stage. The experience of the Authority is unique for arid and semi-arid regions. NARSS is always ready to assume its responsibilities to give technical support to planners, decision-makers, natural resource scientists, environmentalists and researchers in many scientific fields. NARSS headquarter is located in East Cairo and involves a spacious multi-story building with several functioning laboratories and research facilities.

        Nationally, NARSS houses many National programs concerning the use of remote sensing in different fields such as agriculture, irrigation and water resources, mineral and petroleum resources, environmental monitoring and conservation, construction and housing, archaeology and tourism development and finally human development and capacity building. Each program is subdivided to a number of projects, to be
        fulfilled during the coming five years plan. In addition, NARSS has broad collaboration activities with other national institutions such as the National Research Center (NRC), in fields of agriculture, soils and environmental studies, a research project in collaboration with Desert Research Center (DRC) on the topic “Assessment and Mapping Desertification Sensitivity Aspects of Some Western Desert Oases, Egypt, Using Remote Sensing and GIS”, elaboration of a Project for “Digital Egyptian Soil Data Bank” together with the Soil, Water and Environment Research Institute (SWERI) and finally, collaborating with the Strategic Study Unit of the Water Research Center (WRC) in partnerships of MELIA project, funded by FP7 and H2020.
