GEO-CRADLE: Fostering Regional Cooperation and Roadmap for GEOSS and Copernicus
 
The GEO-CRADLE EU funded project will actively participate in the GEO-XIV Plenary with a message "Fostering regional cooperation and roadmap for GEOSS and Copernicus". The GEO Week 2017 will take place at the Ronald Reagan Building and International Trade Center in Washington on 23-27 October 2017. With a focus on delivery and impact, GEO Week 2017 will explore the use and applications of EO in both the public and private sectors for the benefit of humankind.
Come and attend our presentations in the demonstration and side events and find us in the Exhibition Area of the European Commission booth!

GEO-CRADLE upcoming events:
! GEO-CRADLE at GEO-XIV Plenary, 23-27/10/2017, Washington D.C., United States of America !
GEO-CRADLE will participate in the GEO-XIV Plenary and present its latest activities and contribution to GEOSS and Copernicus.
On the one hand, GEO-CRADLE will give presentations
in a number of demonstration and side events on Tuesday 24/10/2017: GEO-CRADLE Project Coordinator Dr. Haris Kontoes in GEO in ACTIONGEO-CRADLE partner from CEDARE Prof. Hesham El-Askary in AfriGEOSS: Strengthening partnerships with African Diaspora on Earth Observations, and GEO-CRADLE partner from TAU Prof. Eyal Ben-Dor in Open geo data to achieve food security and sustainable agriculture for SDG 2030.
On the other hand, GEO-CRADLE will participate in the Exhibition at the European Commission booth.

GEO-CRADLE Partner TAU in the ICARE-EUFAR,
10-13/07/2017, Munich, Germany

The 2nd International Conference on Airborne Research for the Environment (ICARE 2017) was held at DLR, the German Aerospace Research Center, in Oberpfaffenhofen near Munich, from 10 to 13 July 2017. GEO-CRADLE Partner TAU participated in the meeting and Prof. Eyal Ben Dor gave a presentation entitled "Spectral Imaging of Soils: past, present, and future".

 GEO-CRADLE Partner TÜBİTAK UZAY in the 37th EARSeL Symposium, 27-30/06/2017, Prague, Czech Republic

Ramazan KUPCU and Dr. Kaan KALKAN, from GEO-CRADLE Partner TUBITAK, participated in the 37th EARSeL Symposium in Prague and presented the GEO-CRADLE activities related to the Improved Food Security and Water Extremes Management feasibility study of the project.

This GEO-CRADLE Regional Workshop in the Middle East was jointly organized by the Project Coordinator National Observatory of Athens (NOA) and the Project Partner Tel Aviv University (TAU) and took place on September 14 in Tel Aviv, Israel.

Minutes of the GEO-CRADLE Regional Workshop in the Balkans, 09/05/2017, Magurele, Romania

This GEO-CRADLE Regional Workshop in the Balkans was jointly organized by the Project Coordinator National Observatory of Athens (NOA) and the Project Partner National Institute of R&D for Optoelectronics (INOE) and it took place on May 9th 2017, at the National Institute of Research and Development for Earth’s Physics (NIRDEP) in Magurele, Romania.

Minutes of the GEO-CRADLE Regional Workshop in the Balkans, 24/03/2017, Sofia, Bulgaria

This GEO-CRADLE Regional Workshop in the Balkans was jointly organized by the Project Coordinator National Observatory of Athens (NOA) and the Project Partner Space Research and Technology Institute (SRTΙ) and took place on March 24th 2017, in Sofia, Bulgaria.

Two webinars took place in June and were conducted by GEO-CRADLE partners i-BEC and TAU. The webinars informed the GEO-CRADLE partners who are involved in the implementation of the Pilot on Improvement of Food Security – Water Extremes Management regarding the technical requirements of the Pilot.

GEO-CRADLE Partner i-BEC Training Day,
01/06/2017, Thessaloniki, Greece
GEO-CRADLE partner i-BEC organised a training day on Soil Spectroscopy on June 1st in Thessaloniki. The main topics of the training programme were:
1. Soil importance and basic definitions;
2. Principles of spectroscopy;
3. Soil spectroscopy, state of the art;
4. Building a regional SSL;
5. SSL initiatives.

 
Airborne research stories for PRE-TECT!

In the framework of the GEO-CRADLE pilots, NOA along with the network partners organized the PRE-TECT experimental campaign, aiming to advance the Adaptation to Climate Change (ACC) and Solar Energy (SENSE) pilots.The PRE-TECT campaign was presented in the latest EUFAR Newsletter, the European Facility For Airborne Research.
