GEO-CRADLE actively advocates for the importance of coordinated Earth Observation activities as an effective means towards responding to some of the most crucial societal challenges. This entails in particular a close engagement of decision-makers in the framework of four feasibility studies that intend to provide a concrete direction on how to address adaptation to climate change, improved food security and water extremes management, better access to raw materials and energy. It also concerns advocacy towards EO information data providers to adopt a policy of free and open access to their data.

Moreover, following the execution of a thorough gap analysis and the implementation of a novel method for the assessment of each country’s maturity in relation to EO activities, GEO-CRADLE actively advocates for the importance of sustained EO capacities and initiatives at national and regional level. Thus, the project partners and associated organisations actively engage with decision makers and end-users in their countries, in order to convey the benefits of EO activities in line with the vision of GEO and Copernicus (i.e. growth and job creation), highlight the importance of addressing the identified gaps, and finally compile a roadmap for future GEOSS and Copernicus implementation.
